Brenton Gray was kiled by a roadside bomb on August 18, 2006 in Iraq. Serving as a private military contractor for Cochise Consultancy, Gray had finished his enlisted career as a Green Beret and Special Forces Ranger, before returning to Iraq as a civilian contractor.

He was 34 when he was killed and is survived by his wife, Courtney, son, Cayden and sister, Randi.

A special thank you to the friends and families of the fallen service men and women who invited me to photograph their grief and their efforts to continue life after suffering such loss.
