+ projects: - with friends like these
I started skateboarding when I was 11 or 12, it was ’87 or ’88. Soccer was tiresome, competitive, organized. All of a sudden I could leave my house in downtown Durham and be there, in the middle of it. No referees, no teammates, no rules, a built in excuse to trespass and think you had every right. But along the way you found your tribe, the ones who were always there for you, thick and thin, your floor or mine. I could stay at their house one weekend while they were staying at mine and we were in DC the whole time, never sleeping, just rolling, careless, happy. What do you do with a water park in the freeze of winter? We know. What do you do with a huge pile of scrap lumber? We know. What do you do when your friends jump of the bridge? We know. Well hell, you jump off it too and enjoy the ride.
